That Desk
Lee Stern

I think I'll start sitting at that desk over there,
because as far as I can tell, the only person
who used to sit there has gone somewhere else.
And it's only a few feet away from me
so getting there shouldn't be too much of a problem.
I'll check in with you, though, if it is.
And you can offer me some of your best solutions.
You don't have to yell them in my face from a distance, though.
Telling me gently what's on your mind is always the best policy.
If you want me to creep up to the desk on all fours,
then just come right out and say it.
Or if you want me to float up to the desk, holding on to one of your handholds,
tell me your story about the lasting water.
And how they forced you to buy it from the Prince.
